This program is under development, with support of the YSEF Board.
We would like to develop and implement a standardized physical fitness test aimed at identifying athleticism across the spectrum. Specifically measuring physicality in the areas of speed, agility, strength, endurance and flexibility. Ultimately leading to a city, county, or statewide competition to identify the best "All Around " athlete in a given area. It is the hope of the YSEF Board, that this program will ultimately lead to a greater understanding of the underlying athletic ability not specific to any particular sport, there by "raising the bar" for ALL sports. This would positively impact individual performance, as well as reduce injury rates.
The YSEF Board has approved a program funded by a private sponsor that will work with the coaching staff and faculty of the nine high schools in Jasper County MO, to identify and present an award to the male and female athletes, who, in their judgment, best exemplify the qualities of heart, courage and work ethic that make them the backbone of each team. Thus program is fully funded for Jasper County MO, but the YSEF Board are anxious to extend this programs framework to any school or area in the country where a sponsor would like to recognize athletes in their area.
